Northampton County controller and county executive candidate, Tara Zrinski is speaking out against a social media post she said was made by County Councilwoman Kelly Keegan regarding the death of Charlie Kirk.
In a statement, Zrinski said in part:
"I do not condone Councilwoman Keegan's comments, which were in poor judgment and have no place in civil discourse. Her words do not reflect me, the Democratic Party, or the values of Northampton County. She speaks only for herself."
Northampton County Council candidate Jason Boulette said he does not agree with the comments and that they should've never been made.
In a Facebook post, Keegan allegedly wrote that Kirk was a monster and his family was better off without him.
Keegan is also a nurse at Easton Area High School.
In a letter to parents, the school district's superintendent calls the post deeply concerning.
The district is not identifying the person specifically.
"Certainly, had conversations with our employee and the union and we're handling it as a personnel matter as we would with every other incident that comes across our desk," said Tracy Piazza, Easton Area School District superintendent.
Piazza said the employee has been with the district for a while.
"I'm not going to comment on that post. I think it's, you know, it's pretty well publicized out there and you know, that's for people to find on their own. As a district, we're, you know, we take a stand that our employees should act in a manner that's respectful and courteous. I will say, certainly we don't have employment concerns here on the job in what people do in their personal life to some extent is their personal life and freedom of speech, and so I really don't want to comment any further than that," said Piazza.
